LEADER AS COACH Positive Change: The Leader as Coach is Adler’s flagship coaching program for leaders and managers.
Organizations increasingly recognize that in a highly competitive, fast-changing environment sustainable success depends on people – attracting and retaining the best people, as well as supporting them to perform to their highest potential. A coach approach to leading and managing is a powerful way to address this challenge. Our Methodology
Adler’s three-part methodology ensures positive results. Our consultants and facilitators work with the organization on three key factors:
- Strategic positioning
- Clarify desired outcomes for the leadership development initiative
- Position the approach in the organizational context - e.g., linking to performance management model, strategic objectives, change initiatives leadership competencies, core values.
- Build leaders' coaching capability
- Assess current coaching practices
- Train managers through innovative workshops in a comprehensive coaching approach and key coaching skills
- Support managers in relating their coaching role to their other manager/leader roles
- Implementation support
- Follow up programs to ensure application (e.g., group tele-labs, individual coaching)
- Custom-designed support tools
Program content includes:
- The goals of coaching and how they relate to performance and results, learning and development.
- The role of a leader as coach, and how this relates to other leadership activities and responsibilities.
- The key factors that play a role in creating optimal conditions for coaching.
- The nature of the coaching mindset.
- Tools that support effective coaching conversations, coaching relationships, and coaching process.
- Skills practice for effective coaching conversations.
- Action plan for implementation continued development of coaching effectiveness

Adler Leader as Coach Facilitator Training Certification Program
For individuals who want to become Adler approved trainers of the Positive Change: The Leader as Coach program, a Facilitator Training Program is available. This program is intended for organizations that would like to have their own facilitators trained and certified to deliver this program internally, as well as for independent facilitators and coaches who would like to qualify as a facilitator for Adler Strategic Partners.
Facilitator Eligibility Criteria: (link and reveal below)
- Good English comprehension and reading skills.
- Facilitation and training experience in organizations
- Excellent skills in facilitating training in organizations.
- A minimum of 60 hours of coach specific training prior to the start
of Leader as Coach training. (link to Adler certificate program)
